Masada sunrise from Eilat

Masada is an ancient stone fortress in Israel, located high above the Dead Sea on a tall, rocky mesa. Now an Israeli national park and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the 840-acre complex features well-preserved ruins attesting to the history of the ancient kingdom of Israel and the courage of its people in the face of a Roman siege. Masada is a site so rich in historical narrative, that the cool, stone walls practically weep for the brave souls who chose untimely death over enslavement under enemy regime. A symbol of strength and resistance, Masada represents a stronghold inhabited by freedom fighters. Stroll through the castle ruins and discover rooms and structures, archaeological findings highlighting life in Masada during the Roman siege. Enter the Northern Castle, the ruins of King Herod’s private fortress palace. Whisper a prayer in the ancient synagogue, where Jews congregated thrice daily to pray for salvation. Pay homage to the departed freedom fighters, who drew lots in the “Lottery Room” to determine the order of the men’s impending deaths, until the last remaining man put an end to his own life.

The tour has an early departure time in order to arrive in time to experience the incredible sunrise. The sunrise hike to the top of Masada is something of a national icon in Israel. Only in Masada can you find such remarkable history and legendary ruins amid spectacular desert scenery. This is why groups of all ages choose this hike for both its beauty and historic significance. The amazing views across the surrounding landscapes are perhaps the ultimate highlight of our Masada Sunrise tour.

Our HIKING MASADA sunrise tour from Eilat includes Ein Gedi and the Dead Sea. This is a unique self-guided tour taking you to Masada overlooking the nearby Dead Sea oasis. Hike up the winding snake path or Roman staircase from the fortification’s base, departing early to allow you to experience the famous sunrise views from the Masada fortress. Start your day with a sunrise climb to Masada, ascending to the top of the ancient fortress in darkness and gradually witness the lighting-up of the surroundings. Once reaching the top of the fortress, you will enter what was once a series of luxurious castles forming the final stronghold inhabited by freedom fighters. Watch the sun as it rises over Masada and the Dead Sea and witness one of the most specular scenery in Israel. Just sit back, relax and take in the beauty of this extraordinary event before visiting the beautiful Ein Gedi Nature reserve, an extraordinary oasis with magnificent desert plants, wildlife and waterfalls perched between a barren and empty desert.

Enjoy walking through the greenery and cooling off in the springs. Continue to the Dead Sea and enjoy two hours to relax in the salt-rich waters, located at around 1,312 feet (400 meters) below sea level — the Earth’s lowest point. The lake is made up of 34% salt, and contains minerals and muds with special healing properties. Wade into the waters to experience the bizarre floating sensation, enjoy a therapeutic mud bath and spoil yourself with a natural spa treatment by covering your skin with the black Dead Sea mud.

Experience Masada as one of UNESCO’s World Heritage Sites, and the Dead Sea oasis, the lowest place on earth. Our tour is filled with stunning scenery, wildlife, fun and adventure. Every moment on our unique trip is filled with enjoyment and good energy. No trip to Israel would be complete without experiencing the Masada Sunrise.

A safe haven in a region of conflict, Jordan has delighted visitors for centuries with its World Heritage sites, friendly towns and inspiring desert landscapes. Jordan has
a tradition of welcoming visitors: camel caravans plied the legendary King’s Highway transporting frankincense in exchange for spices and Nabataean tradesmen, Roman
legionnaires, Muslim armies and zealous Crusaders all passed through the land, leaving behind impressive monuments. These monuments, including Roman  amphitheatres, crusader castles and Christian mosaics, have fascinated subsequent travellers in search of antiquity and the origins of faith. The tradition of hospitality to
visitors remains to this day.
